Cannabis Farm

Earlier this week, our Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), alongside colleagues from the District Investigation Team (DIT) and Challenger Team, responded to a report from the electricity board about a suspected power bypass at an abandoned building in Ashton.

Entry was gained by our Tactical Aid Unit (TAU), revealing a sophisticated cannabis farm hidden within the premises. Though no individuals were found inside, signs of habitation suggest the site was actively used—and likely abandoned when the electricity board arrived to inspect the bypass.
 

 The setup was dismantled and seized by our teams to secure forensic opportunities and support ongoing investigations.

 

 Why this matters:

 Electricity abstraction is not only illegal—it’s extremely dangerous.

 Cannabis farms often involve unsafe wiring, posing serious fire risks.

 Structural damage and mould from heat and humidity can make buildings unsafe.

 These setups endanger neighbouring properties and public safety.
